Tropic Thunder

Mel and I went to a pre-screening of Tropic Thunder last night.

This is one funny movie. There are superb performances from all the key actors but I really liked Tom Cruise’s depiction of “Les” the tyrannical movie producer. Robert Downy Jr is excellent playing a black seargent.

The movie is about making a war movie. The “actors” are difficult to direct and they waste heaps of money on a botched special effects scene. The producer (Cruise) decides to dump the actors in a real war zone without telling them and use real jungle and fighting as the special effects. It gets better from there.

This is the best comedy I have seen in a while and if you are into black un-PC humour you’ll love it!

Belated Engagement Announcement

I suspect that anyone reading this blog already knows that I asked Melinda to marry me a few weeks ago and thankfully she said yes!

We are planning on a wedding some time in May 2009 which is Autumn in Sydney bringing clear blue skies and mild days. We are thinking that we will do a weekend away theme in the Hunter Valley so all our friends and family can enjoy the wine country and scenery as well as have a party with us to celebrate!

Most likely date is 9/10th May 2009.
